The lengthy list of things to do in Phuket just got a little longer with Phuket attractions’ latest addition – Aquaria Phuket.
Located in the heart of Phuket Old Town, beneath Central Phuket Floresta, Aquaria Phuket takes you on a magical underwater journey through the wonders of the ocean and the mysteries of Thailand’s rivers. The recent Grand Opening of Aquaria, Central Phuket Floresta’s latest signature achievement, immediately made it not only the largest and latest Phuket aquarium, but the largest in all of Thailand with over seven million liters of capacity, 51,000 aquatic creatures and 300 species.
This impressive new Phuket aquarium was designed with the theme “An Ocean of Myth and Legend”, drawing upon Thailand’s mythology and culture, taking guests through a land filled with creatures from Thai folklore.
Phuket’s newest interactive Phuket attraction is great fun for kids and educational for all. It’s divided into several zones: Mystic Forest explores the myths and legends of Thailand; River Giants features real living freshwater legends such as Arapaima, Mekong Ray, and Mekong Giant Catfish in the world’s largest freshwater planted tank; River Caves features playful otters; Coastal Haven introduces us to quirky and endearing penguins up close; Station Aquarius gives you an interactive and educational encounter with some of our aquatic neighbors; and the clever Trick Eye Museum is the world’s first Augmented Reality art museum, featuring the latest in AR technology to produce realistic art and incredible panoramas.
In Central Phuket, Aquaria adds many fun and educational things to do in Phuket, rain or shine. Not just a giant fish tank, Aquaria Phuket introduces us to a wide range of flora and fauna in four distinct areas – Mystic Forest, Coastal Haven, South China Sea and Station Aquarius.
Mystic Forest is the fresh water area. Enjoy watching lizards, chameleons and snakes in their natural habitat. In Coastal Haven you start to move into the salt water realm where you can enjoy a vast space dedicated to those loveable penguins. South China Sea displays the rich world of the oceans in this part of the world, and Station Aquarius provides an open space where adults and the kids get a chance to touch starfish and horseshoe crabs. You can walk back and forth between each area, some outdoor, and some indoor. Aquaria’s 300 resident species includes giant freshwater fish, stingrays, otters, penguins, and several kinds of sharks. Every hour has presentations, and you can assist at feeding times. Kids love it!
